Tourism in savannah

A group of non-designers (Organization X) from Savannah, Georgia was selected to participate in a creative thinking workshop facilitated by our team to help discover the organization’s problems and/or opportunities and to generate a solution for the defined problem. This project gave our team the opportunity to develop design conceptualization outside of the familiar domain of studio skills through a series of group exercises. We were able to facilitate a workshop that lead the organization in the envisioning of new ideas and goals for their company using framing, imaging, and group interaction.

Project Activities

  • Warm-Up Activity

    • Prompt: Please, show us your favorite experience as a tourist. It could be anywhere and you can use the materials in front of you.

    • What we learned:

      • The team was willing to share their own experiences.

      • They were passionate about their personal experiences.

      • We didn’t have to push them to explain anything.

      • Some took longer to think about a good experience, so it took longer to finish this particular activity.

  • Hopes, Fears, and Dreams Activity

    • Prompt: Write down your hopes and dreams from the perspective of an employee representing your organization.

    • What we learned:

      • They discovered that even though they have separate marketing sectors, that have a lot more in common than they realized.

      • The team had more hopes and dreams than they had fears.

      • Some of the team members were hesitant to collaborate with the other sectors of the organization because they thought there would not be similar issues.

  • Title of Needs Activity

    • Prompt: Using the information received from the Hopes, Fears, & Dreams activity, create a Title of Needs Statement for your organization. How close does this represent your mission statement?

    • What we learned:

      • The organization’s sectors realized their title of needs were very similar to their mission statement.

      • The organization realized there were opportunities they could look at for their company.

      • There was a lot of discussion about who the title of needs would internally represent which prevented moving forward until they were willing to agree.

      • The team members had their own interests and took time to come up with a general theme everyone was willing to agree on.

This project consisted of a proprietary workshop which contains results that cannot be shared to the public.
